Intern Diaries

Intern Diaries: Starting Out – Week 0/24

Hey Guys, I’m going to be starting up this intern diary series as I’d be going on a 6-month internship and I really do feel the only way to not get overwhelmed is to document it all.

I hope you can read through it and know you are not along in trying to figure things out.

As you all know, my blog is all about fashion with lifestyle, so what’s lifestyle without everyday reality? However, let’s focus on one thing:

INTERNSHIP.

THE BEGINNING

It’s a wake-up call to reality, telling me almost 4 years of my life has gone by. It tells me I’d soon be plunged into the unfamiliar world outside the university borders.

The internship program is designed to make me experience what life after school is. Maybe that’s why it scares me so much.

It is supposed to be a fun experience but even this experience has been made to be all about the grades.

Backtrack to 2014, when I filled out that JAMB form, I’d thought it through. My parents thought it best to let me choose. I was trusted to make the right choice, maybe I did or maybe I didn’t. The line can blur when you look back at your 14-year-old self and wonder why you were making life decisions even then.

THE DRAWBACK

I HAD AIMED to love it, I DID choose right. I just didn’t factor in the learning conditions, like how messed up our education system really is or how they suck the very passion of education out of you and just leave you wondering where you got it wrong.

Worst part of it all: No one cares about your struggles. After all what has a presumably straight-A student got to complain about?

But it continues and then you find yourself questioning your place, find yourself looking out just to find that passion again, start up the fire again.

Regardless of it all, I start this internship with a hopeful heart, a hope that I can find passion in my field again (while I try not to remember my grades could use an A in the 9-units program). I start this internship scared and totally unsure but with a passion to find my passion.

IT’S THE SAME FOR YOU AND ME. REGARDLESS OF THE HURDLES, IGNITE THAT HOPE IN YOU, THE HOPE THAT YOU WILL FIND YOUR PASSION AGAIN.

I’M ALWAYS HERE WITH A LISTENING EAR, TALK TO ME IN THE COMMENTS.

Love,

Khairah.
