Why You Need to Try Dove Nourishing Secrets Restoring Ritual Body Lotion

So this is the start of my mini #SkincareReviews series and one item I’m currently loving is the Dove Nourishing Secrets Restoring Ritual Body Lotion.

I’m definitely not the only one that acknowledges that body care is just as important in skincare. However, it can be overwhelming because there’re so many brands to try out even with specifics and a budget. I decided to switch from Johnson’s  body care and try Dove after coming across this particular lotion.

Read about Johnson’s Vita-Rich Nourishing Body Lotion in this Product Haul post!

Product Name: Nourishing Secrets Restoring Ritual Body Lotion (with coconut oil and almond milk)

Brand: Dove

Skin Type: For all skin types

First Thoughts: I was attracted to the name (that was a selling point) and the “with coconut oil and almond milk” statement. I’d been dealing with moisture-starved (body) skin and somehow felt convinced of its “deep moisturising and restoring” capabilities.

Smell: If you follow me on Instagram, I’ve mentioned this at least twice but guys, the smell is bliss! It smells like coconut + milk and is totally addictive. The cherry on top: the smell actually LASTS the whole day! I kept sniffing myself and it was just impressive. Long term use and you’d notice the smell lingers on your skin always.

I know I should but I actually don’t research much about ingredients in body lotions. The ingredients were too much so I couldn’t check them all. However, I did check the main ones (mostly always listed first on the list) and these ones caught my eyes:

1) Cocos Nucifera Oil (coconut oil), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Sweet almond oil) and Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Seed Extract: I had to look for the “coconut oil and almond milk” constituents. I also noticed it had quite a number of oils (they all seem safe for oily skin).

2) Caprylic/capric triglyceride is another ingredient with coconut oil. I tend to shy away from oils because of my acne-prone skin but I’m slowly accepting the fact that not all oils are bad for me.

Dear Reader with Oily Acne-Prone Skin, Not all oils are bad for you.

3) Dimethicone also checked out fine for giving a silky smooth texture and calming irritation. Although considered safe, some articles indicated it could worsen acne. This wasn’t the case for me, I’ve experienced no cons with this lotion.   skincare-review-series-blogpost-khiarahscorner-From

I had some reservations about PEG-100 Stearate after checking it out but it doesn’t seem to be a “Must stay away”.

You can check out the rest too here.

I LOVE IT. Apart from the smell, I truly do feel it’s done a good job of “healing” my skin by restoring its moisture and making me feel smooth-ish. Did I mention I love the smell??!

Recommend: Yes Yes Yes!! You really gotta try it for yourself.

Have you ever tried this lotion? I’d love to read about your experience, leave me a comment below!
