Today is another day to review Korean cleansers; this time, it’s all about the PESTLO Ourecipe oil-to-foam cleanser. This particular cleanser might be “confusing” to some: Is it an oil cleanser? Or just a regular first-step cleanser? The short answer is it can be seen as both.
In this post, I’ll be sharing all you need to know about the cleanser, its star ingredients, and my overall thoughts on using it.

About PESTLO Ourecipe Oil to Foam Cleanser
The ourecipe cleanser is an “all-in-one oil to foam cleanser” that “removes impurities and makeup without stripping the skin”. It has an hypoallergenic formula that contains natural surfactants to reduce skin irritation. It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
Certified as 100% vegan by the Vegan society in the UK, clean-beauty by CertClean in Canada ,and with the highest grade on the DermaTest in Germany; the brand is basically saying “we are proud of this product, and your skin is safe with us“. They really went all out and that’s very impressive👏🏾.
It comes in a size of 200ml/6.76 floz, at a price range of $25 – $26. You can shop it from Yesstyle and the brand’s website. They also have a smaller size in 30ml.

This cleanser is formulated with 93.7% EWG green grade ingredients and personally, the highlight was learning about BSASM™.
BSASM is a natural active ingredient made of 7 natural plant extracts known to give an effectively soothing and anti-irritation effect.
The 7 extracts are: CICA extract, Japanese Knotweed root extract, Chinese skullcap extract, Tea leaf extract, Licorice root extract, Chamomile flower extract, and Rosemary leaf extract.
PESTLO has a patented version, which also includes Calming Green Complex.
Apart from these, it has pear, melon, and papaya extracts to soothe and moisturise the skin. It also features several other seed and fruit extracts and oils. That’s a whole lot of ingredients but it makes up for it by being a 2-in-1 cleanser.

First Thoughts & Impressions
At first, I was quite confused as to whether it was actually an oil cleanser but I used it as both an oil cleanser and a regular second cleanser. That’s double cleansing in one product!
It comes in an eco-friendly packaging and I did not expect any less. The bottle looks like glass but it is most likely some form of recycled plastic.
Then, it has a pump for dispensing the product but I got really frustrated with it. Something seemed to be wrong with the pump; it gets stuck while pressing and I have to pull it back up every time. This was probably a factory error though.
Although I cannot exactly place the source, it has a very nice smell. I know it’s not from fragrance since it passed low-irritation clinical tests. It is transparent with a gel texture, which doesn’t feel sticky upon application.
On application, it starts off as an oil cleanser and turns into foam with water. I love how it feels on the skin, and it lathers quite easily.
I don’t wear makeup often but one thing I can tell you is that it’s quite good at removing makeup. It might not completely remove heavy makeup but it actually does a good job for “normal” makeup. It also doesn’t strip your skin and I like to use it on days when I feel like I need a “thorough” cleanse.
It’s big enough (200ml) and quite affordable for its size.

Will I recommend? Yes, definitely. It’s worth trying if you occasionally wear makeup and you don’t want two separate cleansers for your face. Of course, it’s nice to have another oil cleanser for more thorough cleansing but I think it also does a good job.
Will I repurchase? Sometime in the future, yeah. I got it as a sponsored product but I would purchase it if I wanted a cleanser that can double as an oil cleanser and a second cleanser.
